Come and see the Effet Manitou exhibition at the Musée d'art contemporain des Laurentides!
Manitou College (1973-1976), in La Macaza, Upper Laurentians, was the first academic institution in North America to offer dedicated post-secondary training to First Nations people. This is a defining historical event. The Museum’s approach takes the form of spaces of meetings and testimonies intended for the direct speech, that is to those concerned by the history of the College.
Institutional and personal archives are collected. It is a collection of originals and reproductions that have been chosen because they reflect life on campus, the particularity of the educational content or the college experience. Photographs, notebooks, notes, artifacts, songs, video excerpts were entrusted to us temporarily.
