Exhibition - Poussière et lumière, a history of black powder, from China to America

For centuries, black powder helped build our history, destroying the ideological foundations of a world called to renew itself.

First chemical explosive in history, highly coveted commodity, formidable weapon at the heart of the development of military technologies and tool of civilization, black powder sows terror and wonder, leaving behind traces of dust and light. From Chinese alchemy to the chemistry of European revolutions, from America’s fledgling powder kegs to showbiz shows, his story is filled with scintillating anecdotes. It begins and ends the same way: with a magnificent fireworks display.

This colorful exhibition takes you on a journey through centuries and continents while demonstrating the shock wave that black powder has created in the history of humanity. Enjoy this immersion in the world of the great Chinese emperors, medieval castles, Europe of revolutions and the conquest of America. Get acquainted with important figures like Leonardo Da Vinci and Joan of Arc and discover new ones for whom the black powder was significant. Your journey will end with pyrotechnics, the current use of black powder.
